Everyday is a Winding Road.

Most of our life is a series of images. They pass us by like towns on the highway. But sometimes a moment stuns us as it happens. And we know that this instant is more than a fleeting image. We know that this moment-every part of it- will live on forever.

We need your help.

CANCER

is trying to crush his little body.

SUNTOWN CAMP

will not allow cancer to crush his spirit.

Every relationship in a family is affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Children diagnosed with cancer have to grow up much too fast, and miss out on activities that healthy children experience daily.

Children with parents who are cancer patients also live their lives upside down: struggling with their parents' fragility, they are oftentimes neflected as their parents cope with their own fears, anxiety, pain, and distress.

SUNTOWN CAMP brings together children from 9-18 years old who are either ill with cancer or in remission, and children who have a parent that has been diagnosed with cancer.

The Camp allows the children to understand and accept their situation, express their feelings, and see that they are not alone in their struggles. They spend time together with children sharing a similar journey, in a fun, healthy and loving atmosphere. At the camp they make new friends and discover new interests within a community of caring adults who provide them needed attention to boost their self-esteem.

SUNTOWN CAMP also provides the seeds of a support group that can become their life companion as they face their difficult journey in the future.

SUNTOWN CAMP No. 1, successfully organized recently in Negros Occidental, Philippines, was a "first-in-the-world" because it brought together children who experience either of the two types of pain.

The love which overflowed in that camping experience,
the newfound strength that both the children and the adult volunteers found in each other.
The new world,
the new hope, the new faith,
and the new spirit that these children-in-pain discovered within just a few days...
are testaments to a vision of being able to provide more children with opportunities to join a Suntown Camp in the future.

As love knows no limit, there is no limit, too, to the number of future Suntown Camps to be organized.

At Suntown Camp No. 1, the intertwined experiences of the children with either of the two types of pain, coupled with the outpouring of love, hope and faith that came into their lives from those who gave their time, talent and treasure towards the fulfillment of the camp's objectives, were vignettes of the true love of God transported into human experience.
